Updated Move-Out Steps Spring 2024

Check-Out resources are available to students who may want to move out of their residence hall earlier than planned.

Columbia Housing is monitoring outdoor temperatures to ensure that heating systems are turned off when appropriate.

Students who were unable to select a room during Room Selection due to their configuration have were notified on April 17 and added to the Guaranteed Assignment List. Assignment will be sent to students in July. 

Help support the Food Pantry at Columbia by donating your non-perishable food items to the Canned Goods Drive! Donations will be accepted from May 1 through May 10.

The Wallach Lounge will close in October to allow for special e-gaming renovations.

During inspections, staff enter student spaces to ensure that all fire safety equipment is in place and in functioning order, and that there are no prohibited items. Residents will receive email notification from Columbia Housing 48 hours prior to their building’s inspection date and do not need to be present.

The Hartley Hospitality Desk will maintain regular operating hours over Fall Break, October 29 - November 2.

On October 1, the John Jay Lounge reopened for student use following a renovation. The refreshed lounge features new furniture and a large screen TV, updated light fixtures, new carpeting, and fresh paint. We hope you stop by and check it out!

Updated protocols for residence hall access, the guest policy, and gatherings in effect as of October 1 at 5:00 p.m.

Failure to complete the Room Condition Report (RCR) makes a resident ineligible to contest any damage charges upon Check-Out.

Residential students must sign their Occupancy Agreement by 5 p.m. on August 1 in order to finalize their AY 21-22 Housing offer. 

Due to evolving travel requirements from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) the University will be requiring a 7-day, in-room quarantine for certain students.

The notification process to students who have applied for Summer Housing is in progress. If you will be living on campus for Summer A or the Full Summer (Summer A + B) here are the details you'll need to know.
