As you prepare for Room Selection 2024, here's a quick summary of what is new or changing from prior years.

With the recent refresh of East Campus suites, Columbia Housing partnered with The Junkluggers, an eco-friendly "junk" removal company, to find a new home for the used furniture. Housing successfully donated 107 furniture items and recycled over 50, keeping the refresh in line with its commitment to sustainable practices and greatly reducing the number of items directed to landfills.

Starting this month, Columbia Housing will begin a project to install new electronic access-controlled door locks across campus.

Top to Ground Floor Refresh Over Summer Break

Over the 2023 Summer break period, Broadway Hall received a full building makeover! The refresh included new furniture for student lounges plus smart televisions that can be operated by a mobile app; pantries upgraded including all new appliances; student rooms redone with latest finishes, new furniture and a wireless key entry system installed. Plus 27 refreshed communal restrooms and 44 fully redesigned, gender-inclusive restrooms of which 35 are ADA compliant. When renovations began this summer in Broadway Hall, Columbia Housing coordinated with Sustainable Columbia and Construction Business Initiatives to find a new home for the building's couches, chairs, and tables.
