Summer Project Work Completed in Residence Halls

Summer presents the opportunity for project work in the residence halls. This year, the teams in Facilities and Operations were busy completing a number of updates in our buildings to improve the living experience for our residents. Here are the highlights.

Before and After Highlights

All Residences

  • New laundry room equipment installed in buildings

Carman Hall

  • Replacement of the ceiling on the 1300 level, new waste receptables

Carlton Arms

  • A / B Line Suite room refresh

Furnald Hall

  • Refresh of lobby, including new Public Safety desk, woodwork, paint, and furniture

Schapiro Hall

  • Refresh of hallways throughout the building with new carpet, paint, ceiling tiles, doors, and furniture
  • New Room furniture throughout the building
  • Waterproofing of plaza to address leaks, including the installation of new granite, brick pavers, bike racks, and new planters

Wien Hall

  • Replacement of windows near elevator lobbies to bring in more light, and refresh of hallways throughout the building with new carpet, paint, ceiling tiles, doors and waste receptacles
  • Repair and restoration of the cast iron/metal entrance gate and iron fencing at Wien Courtyard

Total Refresh

Broadway Hall

  • Sky Lounge refresh and new furniture
  • Elevator & ADA Lift modernization

Casa Latina

  • Total Brownstone refresh

East Campus

  • New common room furniture in each EC suite

Hogan Hall

  • Refresh of hallways throughout the building with new carpet, paint, ceiling tiles, and doors
  • New Room furniture throughout the building

Additional Work

In addition to these "glow up" projects, important infastructure or behind the scenes work continued as well.

East Campus

  • Repairs to the façade in accordance with the NYC Department of Building’s Façade Inspection and Safety Program
  • Chilled Water Loop project pre-phased building modernization work

John Jay Hall

  • Repairs to the façade in accordance with the NYC Department of Building’s Façade Inspection and Safety Program

Lerner Hall

  • Replacement of the southwest roof to address leaks and other drainage conditions
  • Replacement of the existing fire alarm system, and expansion of the existing fire sprinkler system

McBain Hall

  • Repairs to the façade in accordance with the NYC Department of Building’s Façade Inspection and Safety Program

Ruggles

  • Upgrade to Fire System

Wallach Hall

  • Replacement of Fire Systems – Phase 1
