What's New for Room Selection 2025-2026

Updates to the Barnard-Columbia Housing Exchange may impact how rising seniors decide to form a group. 

Additional updates for Room Selection include a new building, 611 W. 112th St., renovations for East Campus, changes to terminology used in our Residence Hall Directory, and more.

Dates & Deadlines

Are you part of a pre-assigned population?

Students who are part of these groups must declare their housing intent through the Housing Portal between February 20 and 21.

However, as they are assigned to a room before online Room Selection begins, they will not participate in Room Selection.

Disability Housing Accommodations & DA Riders

Students whose disabilities substantially limit their ability to live in Columbia’s traditional housing arrangements can request an accommodation through the Disability Housing Accommodations Registration Form.

RAs and RA Riders

RA assignments are made by Residential Life. In most buildings, RAs can choose one other person to live with them. These residents are known as RA Riders.
