The John Jay Lounge Reopens Following Renovation

On October 1, the John Jay Lounge reopened for student use following a renovation. The refreshed lounge features new furniture and a large screen TV, updated light fixtures, new carpeting, and fresh paint. We hope you stop by and check it out!

The John Jay Hall lounge renovation is the first in a three-part project to transform student space, thanks to a generous donation and creative vision of a University community member. 

The project included changes small and large to improve the lounge and make it a more inviting and comfortable place for undergraduate students to gather, as well as enhancing AV and sustainability features.

Highlights include:

  • Historic windows refurbished
  • New and refinished millwork on walls
  • Restoration of chandeliers, including energy efficient LED lighting
  • New lighting fixtures, dimming controls and energy efficient sensors
  • Smart TV
  • Acoustic finish
  • New furniture and carpet
  • New healing and cooling system, featuring heating controls
  • ADA accessible doors

The project was completed and opened on October 1, 2021. The second stage of the project is underway, transforming the Wallach Hall lounge into an e-gaming space for undergraduates. Anticipated completion is late spring 2022.
