Returning Upperclass Students: Select Your Check-In Time
On July 17, upperclass students received an email prompting them to select a Check-In time for AY 26-27.
We’re preparing for your arrival to campus, and we hope you are, too!
What’s Different for Upperclass Check-In
- Most students will proceed directly to their building or to a bin rental location to unload their items before parking on the street or in a pay-to-park garage.
- On September 4 only, parking on some streets may be prohibited so that streets are clear for students to pull up to the curb while they unload their items.
- Check-In is conducted online. On the day that you arrive, you will be prompted to complete a single-step process in the Housing Portal.
- You can select your arrival day and time, but we recommend that you arrive on September 4 to make use of multiple bin rental locations and more curbside drop-off. Note: bins will be available at the Hospitality Desk in Furnald all weekend long.
Please follow the steps outlined below to get ready for Check-In.
Step 1: Select Your Preferred Check-In Day & Time
Check-In times are available from September 4-7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The time you select lets us know when to expect you so that we can adequately prepare support resources. Plan to arrive at the time you select.
Recommended: Arrive on formal Check-In Day, Friday, September 4, to take advantage of resources like campus-wide bin rental locations and curbside drop-off. More information about these resources will be shared next month.
Please log in to the Housing Portal to select your arrival date and time.
Late Arrivals:
- You may arrive after 5 p.m. on September 4, or any time over the long weekend, but bins will only be available at Furnald Hall.
- If you experience delays and you arrive after your Check-In time, please follow the steps outlined on the Check-In page.
If you are part of an early arrival program, you may receive additional arrival instructions and an updated arrival date.
Step 2: Make a Packing List & Obtain Insurance
- Bring your CUID to Check-In.
- Pack mindfully: space in your room is limited because the room is furnished. All personal items will need to be removed when you check out at the end of the academic year.
- Not all buildings have an elevator; check your building’s webpage to confirm.
- Use our What to Bring page as a packing guide.
- Please do not ship any items to the Student Mail Center before August 1.
- Recommended: Obtain property insurance to protect your belongings while in residence, as the University is not responsible for personal property. You may choose any insurance provider.
Step 3: Review Building-Specific Instructions
Most students will proceed directly to their building or to a bin rental location when they get to campus.
Exceptions apply to residents of:
- East Campus: follow arrival instructions for townhouse vs. high-rise residents on September 4
- Woodbridge: follow key pick-up instructions
- 600 W. 113th, floors 6-8 & 11-12: follow key pick-up instructions
Step 4: Review Check-In Process, Resources and Timeline
This is Check-In email 1 of 3. Later this month, we’ll send instructions for shipping items to campus. In August, we'll share bin rental and curbside drop-off locations, as well as other logistics.
