Make the Most of Spring Break (Move-Out Edition)

Although it may seem far away, move-out will be here in just a few weeks. We know that the end of the academic year can be busy, so we encourage you to start thinking about the process now.

Use Spring Break to Your Advantage

  • If you’re travelling home over break, consider packing items you won’t need on campus between now and the end of term. This might include:
    • Scarves, hats, gloves, and heavier winter coats as we approach warmer weather
    • Shoes you thought you’d use but you realize now you just wear your go-to pairs
    • Any other items you barely used during fall semester. (If you didn’t use it or wear it then, you’re probably not going to use it or wear it in the next few weeks.)
  • If you’re on campus over break, consider going through your belongings and donating or tossing items now.
    • Clothing and other textiles can be dropped in the clothing recycling bins, which in most buildings are located in the laundry room.
    • Textbooks from past semesters can be sold back to the bookstore.
    • Large items to be tossed (like broken coat hangers or small appliances) should be brought to your building’s trash compactor room.

Tip: the more items you bring home, donate, or clean out now, the fewer items you’ll need to manage at move-out.

When is Check-Out?

Non-graduating students are required to move out of their rooms 24 hours after their last exam, or by noon on May 16, whichever is sooner.

Graduating students are required to move out by noon on May 21.
