What to Bring

Only pack or ship the essentials for Check-In day! Space in your room is limited. You can always shop for items after you've arrived and settled in.

Suggested Items

Season-appropriate wardrobe so you have options for New York's hot summer, cool fall, cold and potentially snowy winter and rainy spring

  • Bathrobe
  • Hairdryer
  • Razor
  • Shampoo and Conditioner
  • Soap
  • Shower caddy (plastic basket with holes in the bottom)
  • Shower shoes
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Towels
  • Other personal toiletries, including a first aid kit and medicine
  • Blanket or comforter
  • Linens (extra-long)
  • Mattress cover (extra-long)
  • Pillow

Please do not bring a mattress. Your room is furnished with an extra-long twin mattress

Laundry machines are available in every residence hall and most brownstones and are free to residents. Plan to bring a laundry bag or basket.

Detergent, dryer sheets, and other laundry supplies can be purchased at stores in the area around campus.

Your room comes with basic furnishings, but you may want to bring the following:

Do Not Bring

Prohibited Items

Certain items are prohibited in the residence halls for the safety of the entire community. Review list of Prohibited Items in the Guide to Living before you start packing. These items are not allowed in the residence halls. Highlights include no pets, candles, extension cords, outside furniture, hot-pot style coffee makers (pod-style coffee makers like Keurigs are fine), rice cookers or other cooking appliances (unless you have access to a shared kitchen or common space), and no hoverboards or e-bikes.

Outside Furniture

Your room is furnished with everything you will need. These items must remain in your space during occupancy.
