Guaranteed Assignment List
Students on the Guaranteed Assignment List are guaranteed an on-campus assignment for the upcoming academic year. Assignments are typically announced over the summer.
About the Guaranteed Assignment List
Inventory in the residence halls fluctuates depending on class sizes and registrations for on-campus Housing. This means that some students may not be able to immediately choose a room during Room Selection. However, all students with guaranteed housing will receive an assignment.

Why is there a List?
Inventory may not be available at a student’s appointment time for several reasons:
- Rising sophomores pick after rising seniors and rising juniors with higher point values, so there are fewer options remaining by a rising sophomore's appointment time.
- Corridor-style singles and odd-numbered suites are limited.
- Individual students and odd-numbered groups cannot select into doubles rooms during Room Selection because they cannot fill the space completely. Once all corridor-style singles and odd-numbered suites have been selected, remaining odd-numbered groups and individuals will not be able to select during their appointment time and will be added to the Guaranteed Assignment List.
What happens next?
Students who are unable to select during their appointment time will be automatically added to the Guaranteed Assignment List.
Students will be asked to submit their building preferences after Room Selection has ended. During assignment, preferences are considered but not guaranteed.
What can I do to avoid having to wait for an assignment?
Students should form even-numbered groups. Unlike odd-numbered groups or individual participants, even-numbered groups can select into doubles. Corridor doubles are typically still available after all corridor singles have been selected, which makes it more likely that even-numbered groups will be able to choose a room during their appointment time.
Assignment Process
Students on the Guaranteed Assignment List will receive an on-campus assignment for the following academic year. Assignments are typically announced in mid-July.
Students should not skip their appointment or purposefully not select a room during Room Selection in hopes of being placed on the Guaranteed Assignment List.
