The Hospitality Desk located in the Hartley Hall lobby is available 24x7 at 212-854-2779 to help with general questions and concerns. For maintenance support in your room or building, open a Service Request with Facilities and Operations at any time.

Hartley Hall Renovation to Deliver Modernized Student Living Spaces for Fall 2027

Opened in 1905, Hartley and Wallach (formerly Livingston) are classic McKim, Mead and White buildings designed as the University's first residence halls. The full-building renovation of Hartley now underway will transform the historic residence hall with updated rooms, new common spaces, improved accessibility, and infrastructure upgrades.

Your health and safety are a priority for the University. Annual Health & Safety inspections are conducted in every residence hall once per academic year.

Housing for undergraduates of Columbia College and Columbia Engineering during the official academic terms.

Commencement Housing

We set aside a small amount of available room for the days around Commencement to help those who need reasonable accommodations in New York for the ceremony. 

Outside of Hartley Hall
Conference Housing

Outside of the main academic terms, our Conference Housing staff use the residence halls as temporary hotel-style housing for attendees of events held on or close by to campus.
