Columbia University ID Card
Related Policies
Introduction
All currently enrolled students are issued Columbia University ID (CUID) cards.
Policy
Residents are required to carry their CUID to enter the residence halls. Students are prohibited from using a CUID that is not their own or lending their CUID to another person, including other Columbia students or non-affiliate guests. Students must present their CUID upon request to University officials. Violations of this policy will be reported to the Center for Student Success and Intervention for appropriate follow-up through the Dean’s Discipline process.
Replacement Procedure
Residential students who need to replace a lost or damaged CUID should visit the ID Center during their operational hours for a replacement cost of $20. Your new card should automatically have room and building access.
To activate room access, you should return to your room, tap the card once and wait 30 seconds before tapping a second time to gain entry. Do not tap the card multiple times back-to-back as that will cause access to freeze.
For support, call the Hospitality Desk at 212-854-2779. For building access issues visit Public Safety at 111 Low Library.
It may take up to an hour for Dining Plans, Flex balance, and Dining Dollar balance to become available on your new card. If you need dining plan access sooner, please contact Dining Plan Manager Rosie Fernandez.
