Sponsored Housing

This form is for Columbia Faculty and Staff who are sponsoring students for extensions, spring interim, summer housing, fall interim or early arrival.

The Sponsorship Process

If you are financially sponsoring CC or SEAS students residing in Columbia Housing for extensions, spring interim, summer housing, fall interim or early arrival, please review the information below.

  • Departments that submit rosters will be billed $68 per night per student in 2026.
    • You are required to submit chart strings, rosters, payment information, and supporting information to Columbia Housing.
    • Rosters and chart string information are due by April 15 for extensions, spring interim, and summer housing, and by July 15 for fall interim and early arrivals. Please use the Housing Sponsorship Form to submit this information for your students.
    • If you need to submit roster changes, use the Summer Housing Sponsorship Form – Roster Updates.
  • Note: If students want to enter Housing prior to or remain after a sponsorship period, they must register for a full session through the Housing Portal or email [email protected] for additional information. 

Other Sponsorship Needs

Housing will be billed at $60 per night, the lowest student rate available.

  • Students must apply directly through the Housing Portal. Please note, this option is only available for sponsorships whose dates align with summer session dates.
  • You are not required to submit chart strings, rosters and other information to Columbia Housing.
  • The student will be billed directly through SSOL. Please see below for summer session terms for enrolled individual CC/SEAS students. 
  • Columbia Housing does not provide sponsored housing to Barnard College students
    • Barnard students are only eligible for spring interim housing if they lived in Columbia Housing during the spring term. 
    • Barnard students are only eligible for fall interim housing if they will live in Columbia Housing during the fall term. 
  • If you wish to sponsor any students living in Barnard Housing, please contact Barnard Residential Life & Housing at [email protected].
  • Graduating seniors are not eligible for fall interim housing. 
  • General Studies students are not eligible for extensions, spring interim, fall interim, or early arrivals.
  • Students from these above groups do not have access to the Housing Portal. Columbia Housing will reference your submitted roster to offer housing for the requested period.

Important Dates

Early arrivals will not be allowed on First-Year Check-In, August 29-30. Sponsored early arrival students may not request to come to campus on an earlier date.

  • April 15: Housing Sponsorship Form due for Spring Extensions, Spring Interim, and Summer Housing
  • May 16: Spring Check-Out
  • May 21: Graduating Seniors Check-Out
  • July 1: First-Year Early Arrival rosters due
  • July 15: Housing Sponsorship Form due for Fall Interim and Early Arrivals
  • August 29: First-Year International Student Check-In and Approved Bag Drop
  • August 30: First-Year Check-In
  • September 4: Upper-Class Check-In
