Reminders for Thanksgiving Break
Please take a few minutes before you leave to complete these simple steps to keep your residence hall and room safe.
- Close and lock all windows and security gates
- Turn off lights
- Dispose of all garbage and recycling in your room
- Remove flammable items from radiators/heating units
- Turn off and unplug non-essential appliances
- Take a minute to sort unwanted clothing and shoes to donate during Clean and Go Green on December 1 or 2
Looking Ahead: Winter Break Housing
Winter break is around the corner: Friday, December 23 to Monday, January 16, 2023. Students are eligible for winter break housing if they live in Columbia Housing for both Fall and Spring Terms during the Academic Year. Students who withdraw, study abroad during Spring Term, or graduate in February are not eligible for winter break housing and should update their status in the Housing Portal. Fall check-out for students not returning is Friday, December 23 by 12 noon. Look out for an email with additional information about winter break.
Spring Semester: If You Intend to Request a Room Swap
Students who wish to complete a room swap must contact their Residence Hall Directors to initiate the process by December 6. Requests received after December 6 will need to be resubmitted at the start of spring semester. Room availability may be limited at that point. Learn more about room swaps.
