Filming and Other Media
Columbia University buildings, facilities and grounds are private property. There are policies in place to respect student privacy and ensure minimal disruption to University activities. Members of the news media must adhere to University News Media and Filming Policy. Contact the Office of Communications and Public Affairs at 212-854-5573 for permission, guidance and escort assignments.
Film, Photography and Other Video Projects in the Residence Halls
Filming in the undergraduate residence halls and brownstones is prohibited unless the photographer or filmmaker has received approval from Event Management and Columbia Housing.
Film, Photography and Other Video Projects On-Campus
Commercial filming, news, documentaries and student photography/film/video projects at some campus locations are only allowed by advance permit.
Columbia undergraduate film students, members of recognized clubs or organizations, and independent students interested in filming on campus need to complete the Event Management's Student Film Application. The request will then be forwarded to Housing and the Office of Communications and Public Affairs for approval.
